List of Minnesota Timberwolves head coaches

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an American professional basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] The team was one of two expansion teams that joined the NBA in 1989.[2] The Timberwolves has never been in the NBA Finals.[3] The team have played their home games at the Target Center since 1990.[4] The Timberwolves are owned by Glen Taylor, and Jim Stack is their general manager.[5][6]

There have been nine head coaches for the Timberwolves; the first was Bill Musselman, who coached for two seasons. Flip Saunders, who coached for ten seasons with the Timberwolves, is the franchise's all-time leader for the most regular-season games coached (737), and the most regular-season game wins (411). He is the only head coach to have been to the playoffs with the Timberwolves, with a playoffs record of 47 games and 17 wins. Sidney Lowe is the only person to have been a player (1989–1990) and a head coach (1993–1994) for the Timberwolves.[7] Kevin McHale and Dwane Casey have spent their entire NBA coaching careers with the Timberwolves. Though none of the Timberwolves coaches have been elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach, McHale has been elected into the Hall of Fame as a player in 1999.[8] McHale was on his second tenure as the head coach of the Timberwolves in 2008,[9] until being fired in 2009; he was replaced by Kurt Rambis, the current head coach.[10]
